A dirty array makes less power. How much less depends on the tilt of the panels and what lands on them, and your monitoring app is the best place to see it.
Signs your panels need a wash
- The app shows output sliding on clear days, with nothing else changed
- Bird droppings on the glass that the last rain didn't shift
- A gray film you can see from a window or the street
- Ash or soot on the roof after a fire nearby
- Trees over the array that drop sap or leaves
A cleaning visit, step by step
- Send your address, with a photo of the panels if you can take one from the ground or a window. We call you back the same business day.
- We come out on a day you pick, in the cooler part of the day when the glass isn't hot. You have the price of the wash before we start.
- The crew works from a ladder at the eave and from the roof around the array. Nobody stands or kneels on the panels.
- Soft brushes and clean water do the washing. No pressure washer goes near the glass.
- We also look over the mounts and the wiring we can see. Birds nesting under the array get a mention too.
- You get a text when it's done. If something needs work, the text says what, and the price comes before anything is touched.
One person, start to finish
One project manager runs your job and texts you at every step.
- Callback
- The same business day you call or send your address.
- Updates
- A text each time a step is done, and a reply when you text in.
Before you clean them yourself
Don't climb onto the roof to do it. Wet glass on a slope is slick, and the wiring under the panels carries power whenever the sun is up. If you want to rinse them between visits, use a garden hose from the ground on a cool morning.
After the wash
Clean glass, and a text when it's done. If we spotted anything on the system, the text says what and where, so you can decide what to do about it.
What people ask about panel cleaning
How often should panels be cleaned in LA?
It depends on the dust and what's overhead. Watch the app: when output on clear days slides and the glass looks gray, it's time. Houses near a busy road or under trees usually need it more often.
My installer closed. Will you still clean the panels?
Yes. If the system needs more than a wash, we tell you and price it first.
Won't the rain clean them?
A light rain mostly moves the dust around. A proper storm helps more, but droppings and sap usually stay put.
What if output stays low after a wash?
Then something besides dust is holding it back. A system check looks at the inverter and the monitoring next, and you hear what's wrong in plain words before any work starts.
